Webinar - Wednesday 23rd November 2016

The Government was elected on a commitment to extend the ‘right to buy’ to housing association tenants; following which a 'voluntary agreement' was entered into with the National Housing Federation; and provisions were included in the Housing & Planning Bill.

This will have a significant effect on the business plans of housing associations. In particular there is concern about the continued ability of housing associations to develop new homes – and even some concern about their continued viability. There is therefore a need for those involved in managing the finances of housing associations to understand the inter-relationship between these policies.

This webinar will examine the proposals in detail including the 'voluntary' agreement between the government and the National Housing Federation and the provisions of the Housing & Planning Act and consider all the implications for housing associations.

The webinar will address the following issues:

  • Extension of 'Right to Buy' to Housing Associations
  • The voluntary agreement between the Government and the National Housing Federation
  • Government proposals in the Housing & Planning Act and what is likely to be in the regulations
  • Possible Exemptions and Challenges
  • Position of the Homes & Communities Agency
  • Lessons from the re-invigorated 'right to buy' in local authorities
  • How will the compensation be managed

Who should attend? All those with an interest in housing associations in England, including Managers in Housing Associations, Housing Association Board Members, Housing Accountants and Tenant Representatives.

There has already been one session of this webinar and it is being repeated by popular demand.

The webinar will start at 2pm and last for between 1½ and 2 hours.

After the webinar attendees will be provided with a copy of the presentation used and a briefing paper.
