EXTENSION OF THE 'RIGHT TO BUY' TO HOUSING ASSOCIATION TENANTS

The Government was elected on a commitment to extend the ‘right to buy’ to housing association tenants; following which a 'voluntary agreement' was entered into with the National Housing Federation; and provisions were included in the Housing & Planning Bill.

This will have a significant effect on the business plans of housing associations. In particular there is concern about the continued ability of housing associations to develop new homes – and even some concern about their continued viability. There is therefore a need for those involved in managing the finances of housing associations to understand the inter-relationship between these policies.

This webinar will examine the proposals in detail including the 'voluntary' agreement between the government and the National Housing Federation and the provisions of the Housing & Planning Act and consider all the implications for housing associations.

The webinar will address the following issues:
