This webinar is designed to give an introduction and overview of the housing revenue account and is fully up to date with all developments.

This webinar is designed for people who are not experts in housing finance, but who need to understand the basics and achieve an overview of what is going on. It is suitable for councillors, housing managers, tenant representatives and finance staff who have limited experience of local authority housing finance and others who realise that an understanding of housing finance can place them at an advantage – especially when considering the financial opportunities and threats that exist for local authority housing!

The webinar will answer the following question:

  • How does the Housing Revenue Account work?
And will consider:
  • Income & Expenditure Account
  • Rents and Service Charges
  • Capital Expenditure and Financing
  • Self-Financing Settlement
  • Impact of reforms proposed by the new government

The webinar is fully up to date and includes the government's recent policy announcements on the sale of high value council homes, near-market rents for tenants on high incomes and annual reductions in social and affordable rents of 1%.

The webinar will last for between 1½ and 2 hours.

After the webinar attendees will be provided with a copy of the presentation used and a briefing paper.
